| Texans: What is in a Recycled Name? Why did Houston go with a recycled name? Don't get me wrong, I do not wish to bash on the Houston Texans per say. Sure they traded away David Carr, which from a girl's perspective was the only good reason to ever watch this bumbling franchise. And please don't tell me about his bad mechanics, I really do not follow the game that closely, so it's not like I would understand anyway! Still, I know enough to see that this Williams guy last year was no Reggie Bush. Even I would have picked Reggie Bush, but what do you expect from a franchised with a recycled name? The first Texans franchised lived long ago and far away. They were the Dallas Texans of the NFL back in 1952. That is before a fellow named Ike was president. Not sure what happened to them, they folded. But was the name dead? Heavens no! Some fool in the AFL recycled the name. From 1960-1962 there was again a Texans franchise in Dallas. They eventually moved to Kansas City where I suppose you can't be called a Texan any more. So in total rebellion they became the Chiefs. Was the name dead yet? Nope! The Canadians jumped at a change to have a Texans team, so the CFL place a Texans team in Houston, but not before the AFL (Arena league) revived the Texan name from 1990-1993. All of these teams eventually folded, moved, failed, whatever! So, you see what I am getting at! Yep, Karma! The name has bad Karma people! No team called the "Texans" will ever succeed! Never has, never will! So I proposed they changed their names to "The Fighting Defenders of the Republic of Texas who remember the Alamo." Catchy? Heavens no! But face it, not a name with a history of failure. |

GDK, Gunslinger is not PC enough these days. Not even for Texans. Besides, its not like the Houston team has any swagger to them silly. LOL. |

| Re: Texans: What is in a Recycled Name? Well, since bad karma is the reason frequently given for the Cardinals' repeated failures cause their stadium is located on an Indian gravesite, then guess its just as good a reason as the name for the Texans' failures. This thing about Carr's mechanics you always hear, I dont get it either. Always thought it was pretty hard to have good mechanics throwing the ball flat on your back. |
