Ron Dayne re-signed

The Texans re-signed Dayne to back up Ahman Green. I guess that means they are still having serious doubts about the availabilty of Domanick Williams.

Dayne was good for them last year... but what is up with Davis/Williams? He was a real good back a few years ago. Injuries or what?

Re: Ron Dayne re-signed

Williams had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee near the end of the 2005 season and the team thought he would be fully recovered by the time training camp opened last year. He came to camp, but continued to have problems with swelling and soreness. The reports were that it wasn't related to the surgery, but who knows. Anyway, he was put on IR last year and everyone hoped that after a year's rehab, he would be OK, but evidently, he is still having problems with it and can't run at full speed.
I think the main reason Ahman Green was signed was because of the doubts about his knee ever being 100% healthy and then with them re-signing Dayne, I think that pretty much re-enforces it. We will see what happens.
I like the Dayne signing a lot though...he really emerged last year when given the #1 job for the first time in his career. Plus, he ran all over the Jags and Colts.

Cool Re: Ron Dayne re-signed

Are the Texans every going to sign any offensive lineman to block for these guys?

They signed Jordan Black from KC a couple of weeks ago, who isn't great, but at least it's something and he can play on either side. Also hopefully Charles Spencer will be back healthy next year.
They've brought a couple more guys into to town for visits recently, so we'll see what happens. The line is probably going to have to be addressed at some point in the draft as well.
