Texans Draft Options?

This recent signing of Ahman Green changes the draft alot for Adrian Peterson, who many think the Texans would take before this move. Does anyone think the Texans would still take him if he's there at pick 8? I would think with Green and Davis they are pretty solid there for a few more years, would they risk Peterson?

I personally think that if he's there, they'll take him, for two reasons:

1) They don't want to make the same mistake last year of not picking Young or Bush. Peterson grew up in Houston and went to Oklahoma, and though its a rival school to Texas and Texas A&M, people have seen enough of him to know he's good. If anything, drafting him sells tickets.
2) Green is getting older and Davis isn't a sure thing. Drafting Peterson now and give him a year or two to split carries, recover his body from the beating he took in college, so he can be more fresh when he takes over as the starter.

Re: Texans Draft Options?

Wow, they msut not really like Davis if they take Peterson. I thought Davis was going to be their #1 back. Then they sign Ahman Green who although a vet, probably has a good two years left in him as a starter.

There's no doubt Peterson would be a great pick but is it the best value for them right now?

I don't think he will be there at the 8 pick. I still see Cleveland taking Peterson if he is there.

Depends on what they do in free agency. I'd personally rather see the Browns get one of the Dominics (Rhodes or Davis) than Adrian Peterson.

As for Houston, they still need offensive line help in the worst way, so I see them going that way or defense, depending on who's available at the time.

Cool Re: Texans Draft Options?

Peterson probably won't be there but if even if he was, there's no way they would take him. You don't pay a running back 30 million dollars and then waste a pick on another running back (then again - it's the Texans, so who knows?)

Lefty is right, they need an OFFENSIVE LINEMAN. If they don't get one, they may end up being the worst team in the league this year.

Re: Texans Draft Options?

I would love to see Peterson there at 8, but I really don't think it will happen. Even with the Browns signing Jam Lewis, I think AD will still be their pick.
Even though we need help on the O-line, I really don't want to see it addressed that early when we could do it later on in the draft. We need an impact player at that pick and hopefully the guy is LaRon Landry. If by chance Brady Quinn is still there though, I think he will be the pick.
