Cool Texans sign Ahman Green

Quote:
Ahman Green became the first free agent running back to sign a contract this offseason as he agreed to a four-year, $23 million deal with the Houston Texans on Sunday.

The deal includes $8 million in the first year between signing bonus, roster bonus and base salary. Green also gets $18 million over the first three years of the contract, another staggering amount in a year of hefty contracts around the NFL.

Green's deal is the same total as the extension signed by Jacksonville Jaguars running back Fred Taylor earlier in the week.

The Texans just don't get it. They could get Jim Brown to run for them but if they don't improve their O-Line, what's the point? And Green is already 30 years old and is injury prone.

Move over David Carr, let green take some of the beating

I like the signing. Sure, Green's not a long-term answer, but he is an upgrade from Ron Dayne. Green's best years were under Mike Sherman, if I remember correctly, and lo and behold, lookie lookie who the Houston offensive coordinator is. Now... what happens to Domanick (Davis) Williams?

Dayne was looking good at the end. What I like about Green is that Carr will have a good option to dump the ball to.

Ahman Green is a decent RB, but not MVP potential by any means.

They should've pursued a trade in Willis McGahee.

Re: Texans sign Ahman Green

At one point Green was one of the best in the league. But his fumble problem was never corrected and he's been hurt more often than you'd like. But if he can stay on the field, he's going to help the Texans offense. But who will be handing him the ball next year?

It won't matter who is handing him the ball. After about 3 games of beatdowns, he will be injured again. He is very brittle lately.

He won't be playing in cold weather quite so much. That could help somewhat. I mean, I haven't paid a ton of attention to what kind of injuries he's sustained, but in warm weather, an athlete's muscles will be looser and his body isn't quite as tense. So there's a chance he revitalizes his career by going south.
