Texans after Matt Schaub

According to ESPN reports, the Houston Texans may be in talks to acquire QB Matt Schaub from the Atlanta Falcons. It's been no secret that David Carr is about as good as gone, possibly to Chicago. So would Schaub be a good replacement for the only starting QB in franchise history?

Yes I think so. Schaub was very good in replacement for Vick so I say give him a starting shot somewhere but if it's gonna be the Texans they need to build an offensive line so Schaub doesn't end up like Carr who was sacked endlessly.

With a real QB the line will be better.

It's Carr making the line look bad, not the line making Carr look bad.

Time to send the Carr to the junk yard

Re: Texans after Matt Schaub

Everyone seems to love Schaub and think he has the potential to be a solid starter. I see no reason why he can't be, he sure played well in the small time he's played during his young career.

How does Carr make that line look bad. The opposing teams are in the backfield so often it is like the line is telling the defense which play they are running. Carr may need a change. Maybe a different system or a better line would help him.

What are the chances of him going to Green Bay. Favre is going soon. They will need a QB since they have wasted Rogers.

Carr and Green Bay would be a good mix I think...He would trade in the warmth of Houston for Green Bay just to keep from getting sacked...

Re: Texans after Matt Schaub

Carr may not be the most mobile QB in the world.....but then the sacks become the coaches fault

you have to know when you strap your wagon to a QB that doesnt scramble well........and then you need to provide better blockers and a better blocking scheme

Re: Texans after Matt Schaub

i agree with simion and knight, the texans line ends peoples future, I liked the jets theory last draft and the texans should look at it. They decided before adding elite players to their backfield and possibly replacing an injury prone qb in pennington that they would draft two ol in the first round. The texans need to keep carr, and rebuild the line this year, if carr still doesnt work out then ya move him. But i think matt will face the same problems as carr if u dont fix that line

It is a great formula that I believe the Steelers do. Every draft they pick a lineman and try to develop him.

Re: Texans after Matt Schaub

Atlanta should keep Schaub and trade Vick to Houston. This would help both teams. Houston will not have to have an O-line with sick Vick to run the ball all over the place. For he is not a QB he is a RB. Just think Young and Vick in the same division, they will play each other twice a year and that way they can see who can run the ball the most.

Cool Re: Texans after Matt Schaub

Carr is a good quarterback. The Texans just don't get it. Nobody on earth could pass if they second they dropped back, they had 4 guys right in their face.

Re: Texans after Matt Schaub

I'm not one of the "Carr haters" down here and I agree the offensive line is a huge part of the problems he has had, but the truth is, Carr has lost the confidence of his teammates and he was never considered a real leader in the locker room because of his laid back attitude. There have been two players in the past month who have come out and said in the local paper that there needs to be a change in direction at QB.
I like Carr and I want to see him have success in the league, but I have to wonder if that will ever happen in Houston. I think a change in scenery may be the best thing for him and the team.
