Houston Texans LB DeMeco Ryans has been named the Defensive Player of the Year. This is a no-brainer. Ryans, the team's second round pick, had more solo tackles than anyone else in the NFL (126) and was tops among rookies in total tackles (156). This kid looks to be something special, does he not? Definitely the best defensive player the Texans got in the last draft.

Sure, Bailey's a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, but it'd be kind of hard for him to win the rookie award, don't you think?

I was high on DeMeco Ryans last year, but I didn't think he would be this good. He is the consummate football player even though he may lack optimal athleticism, as he is instinctual, intelligent, relentless, and tough. There will be some teams that regret passing on him because he lacked ideal measureables.

However, I am still semi-confident that Mario Williams will pan out. Count me in as the select few that thought the pick was the right one. Williams has godly athleticism. Seriously, Big Guns upstairs tells me he is like the second guy on the evolutionary chart.

I only watched the Texans a couple of times this year but isn't Ryans the defensive play caller? I could have swore I saw him in those 2 games calling the plays from the sidelines. If so that is a pretty good sign at how much they like this kid
