| Texans after QB Jake Plummer? I heard on ESPN today, from Mortensen I believe, that the Houston Texans are seriously considering dumping David Carr at the end of the season and using current Broncos backup Jake Plummer as a temporary stopgap. I assume this means they would draft someone in the 1st round in April and sit him for a year. Not sure about this idea. The whole thing was basically tied around how Vince Young helped beat them yesterday, and how many think he should be playing in Houston, not Tennessee. But I've got news for the Texans brass - whether they cut Carr or not, they still can't call a mulligan and draft Young. This just seems like a mix of panic and regret to me. What do you think?

Re: Texans after QB Jake Plummer? Absolutely, this is something the team will regret for a long time and whats worse is we let him go to a team in our division and now have to be reminded of our stupid decision every year! VY could be the sole person responsible for keeping us away from a strong playoff run for years to come. Had the game ended any other way it would not have been nearly as bad, is as if the gods are against us for being so ignorant and not choosing the easy path laid out for us. We had it! hometown legend born and raised to grow up and then lead his hometown professional team! Even if you justify passing Vince for talent reasons (which still doesn't make sense) you can't justify passing him up in the business sense. he sold out that stadium that hasn't been sold out in like two years. way to go charlie... we probably shouldn't have fired him so he can deal with his own mess.

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Empire is right. The rest of the team stinks. Carr is pretty good. Put him on a team with an offensive line and some weapons like my JETS for instance and he would be really good.

Re: Texans after QB Jake Plummer? If they get Plummer, the Texans appear to be doing what the Jets did in the mid 90's when they got Neil O'Donnel. How does getting a mediocre aging QB help a franchise that has so many other pressing needs?

Re: Texans after QB Jake Plummer? Sounds like ownership has soured on Carr to the point they're ready to part ways. A shame too, Carr looks like he has the tools to be a good QB but just never had all the parts around him to do well.

Re: Texans after QB Jake Plummer? David Carr had the talent to be a very good starter for years, but he has absolutely no confidence. The guy has been served to the wolves for a couple of seasons now with that offensive line in front of him. He may make a semi-resurgence, but he is way too gunshy to be a starter right now. It has gotten to the point where he is guessing on potential pressure spots and dumping too often, but I don't know if I can really blame him.
