Houston, we have a problem... everything.

Anyone who understands football knows the Houston Texans need a better offensive line. David Carr’s chances of having more than two seconds to throw a football are close to the odds that a penny will land on heads every time.

Reggie Bush is a good running back, for sure. However, think of what happened to Barry Sanders in Detroit. He ran for yards, but he could never drive the ball.

Picking up Reggie Bush is not what the Texans need. They already have a talented running back in Domanick Davis, who picked up 976 yards on 230 attempts for a 4.2 yard rushing average. Davis has the skill to run the ball.

Houston doesn’t need a quarterback either, because David Carr is capable of leading the Texans, it’s just that he’s been doing more gardening than passing. That and the Texans just picked up his $8 million option for one year.

What the Texans need is an offensive line. That is its main priority. After working on that, they need to build up its defense, starting with the line. The Texans gave up the most points (431) in league during the 2005 season.

Shantee Orr, an outside linebacker who led the Texans with seven sacks in 2005, played his first full season last year and is starting to come into his own. Orr was joined by Antwan Peek, another outside linebacker who followed up with six sacks. Both are going into their fourth year. After Orr and Peek comes Seth Payne, a defensive tackle going into his tenth year, with four sacks.

This defensive line needs to put consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks in order to help its spread out secondary, which in turn opened the running game for opponents. And in the AFC South, where Houston plays the Colts and Jaguars twice, they need a defense in order to contend.

The Texans are in a rebuilding stage. They lost Jamie Sharper before the beginning of the 2005 season and the offensive line has done little to help protect David Carr. On top of that, the defense is horrendous. However, drafting Reggie Bush because he’s freakishly talented is like putting a band-aid on a severed arm.

Yes! Yes! Exactly! They have a quality QB and a qualilty RB. They need offensive line. That's why they have got to trade down and use their first-round pick on OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson. Ferguson is a 6-5, 300+ pound phenom. He's reportedly even put on size as of late, making him even more of an attractive pick. I'm not a Houston fan, but... come on, guys. Don't fall victim to the hype. Make the smart pick and take Ferguson.
