LAS VEGAS -- Former Rice star Mike Harris will have a chance to make the Rockets' roster in training camp.
The Rockets signed the free agent forward to a non-guaranteed contract on Friday and will bring the athletic swingman to Houston for a chance to compete for a roster spot.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pound forward earned the training camp invite by impressing the Rockets' brass in mini-camp and the NBA summer league. Through the first three games of the summer league, Harris is averaging 12 points and 8.3 rebounds in 25 minutes of action. He has the sort of explosiveness and slashing ability on the perimeter that the Rockets have been seeking in the offseason.
