LAS VEGAS -- Aaron Brooks was hoping to get off to a fast start in his summer-league debut with the Rockets.
He instead spent the first half trying to shake his nerves and locate his jumper.
"I was basically just running around in the first half because I was so excited," said Brooks, the Rockets' first round draft pick. "I just told myself that I needed to settle down."
He heeded his own advice.
Brooks recovered from a shaky first half to score a game-high 21 points, pacing the Rockets to 90-76 summer-league opening win over the Los Angeles Clippers Tuesday night at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas' Thomas & Mack Center. The Rockets have now won 11 consecutive summer-league games over the past three years.
