Shortly after being violently flung to hardwood in the third quarter courtesy of Seattle's Nick Collison, Rockets center Yao Ming clutched his bruised left elbow and grimaced one last time before becoming fully satisified that he would survive his hard fall.
He then put the hurt on the Sonics.
The Rockets' big man responded to Collison's WWF-style takedown Monday night by scoring 19 of his 31 points in the second half and carried the Rockets to a much-needed 95-90 victory over Seattle at KeyArena.
The win moved the Rockets (49-29) a half-game ahead of the Utah Jazz in the race for home-court advantage in the opening round of the playoffs. Utah, which has lost four consecutive games, suffered a setback to Golden State.
