During the summer months, Rafer Alston studied film from Houston's championship days to see how the franchise's perimeter shooters once drilled jumpers after opposing defenses collapsed on star center Hakeem Olajuwon.
On Friday night, he did a pretty fair impression feeding off his own star center.
With Yao Ming drawing the attention of the opposing defense, Alston came out sizzling on the offensive end and helped the Rockets cruise to an easy 114-100 victory over the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centere.
The Rockets (41-25) won for the fourth time in five games and moved within 2 1/2 games of the fourth-place Utah Jazz in the Western Conference.
