Shawn Chacon attacks Houston GM

The Houston Astros have suspended P Shawn Chacon indefinitely for insubordination.

According to the Associated Press, "Chacon was suspended indefinitely by the team Wednesday for insubordination after reportedly grabbing general manager Ed Wade by the neck and throwing him to the ground... Chacon, upset after getting demoted to the bullpen over the weekend, told the Houston Chronicle this problem began when Wade saw him in the dining room before the game against Texas. Wade wanted to meet with Chacon in manager Cecil Cooper’s office, the pitcher said."

Chacon refused, and insisted on discussing matters right there while he ate, and the situation apparently went downhill from there.

Re: Shawn Chacon attacks Houston GM

He would never play for my team again.

It's one thing to deal with other athletes that way, but not with the suits.

In all of Wades time here, there was never one word of him acting like this.

He wasn't the best general manager, but this type of thing seems waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of character.

Here is the line that kills me.

"Maybe it shouldn't have happened," Chacon said. "But when you do those things and you're yelling at somebody and you're cussing you better know what type of person you're dealing with. If there's any regret, I just wish they had just let me alone. I wish they had left me alone," he told the Chronicle.

He can't be serious. His only regret is they wish they had left him alone????

Maybe he should have just gone into the office as he was asked.

Suspend him from the team, and fine him as much as the MLBPA will allow you.

That's the key thing in all this, to my mind. Your boss comes and tells you to report to his office. And you tell him NO??? You're just asking for trouble. I can't blame Wade if he went off. I would too if one of my employees refused to report to my office like that. Chacon was obviously trying to start something. I agree with you. He'd never suit up again for my team, not after pulling this kind of stunt.

Re: Shawn Chacon attacks Houston GM

First of all he would never play for me because he is one awful pitcher to begin with. But from what I saw of the Astros when the Yankees played them, Wade and Cooper will soon be joining Chacon in the unemployment line.
