Miguel Tejada admitted to Astros GM Ed Wade that he is actually 33, two years older than listed in his baseball records.
Like many poor kids from Caribbean countries, Tejada was encouraged to lie about his age when he signed with the Oakland A's in 1993. The interesting thing is that all his legal papers in the United States reflect his actual birthday. It's doubtful that any team that's thought about acquiring him over the years is particularly surprised by this news.
