Biggio to play less

According to the Associated Press, "Craig Biggio's playing time could be reduced during the second half of the season, especially on the road, as the Houston Astros give Chris Burke a longer look at second base... Biggio, who got his 3,000th hit on June 28, is OK with the arrangement, manager Phil Garner said Saturday, adding that the plan could change should Biggio go on a hitting tear. Burke started Saturday at second base and batted leadoff against the Chicago Cubs."

I guess it's no surprise, considering his career's winding down. So is this effectively the first step out the door for Biggio?

At least they talked to him about it and didn't force him out before he was ready.

Yep, and he gets to leave a Hall of Famer...I think they probably had an understanding while chasing 3,000...

Yeah, that was my guess. Now he can mentor this kid who's gonna replace him. What's the good word on this Burke, anyway?

I assume you mean Biggio. So Burke's playing? How's he looked?

Re: Biggio to play less

Burke's a decent player. Should be better at 2nd base, his natural position, than when he was in the outfield. Nowhere near as talented as Biggio, but an adequate replacement.
