How the mighty have fallen. The once dominant, now struggling Brad Lidge has been demoted after giving up five runs and blowing his first save opportunity of the year. Dan Wheeler is the new Astros closer, with Lidge relegated to mostly 6th or 7th inning work, according to the Houston Chronicle. Good move?

I'm surprised he's not at least a set-up man, though. All the way to middle relief... I wonder if his confidence will EVER come back now.

I figured this was coming and I'm glad it happened sooner rather than later. He lost the job to Wheeler last August too and I was really surprised to see Lidge get it back coming out of spring training.
Lidge just doesn't seem to have it mentally anymore and once a closer loses that edge, he is done.
