Roger Clemens vs. Koby Clemens

Did you guys hear about this one? Roger Clemens was throwing against some Astros minor leaguers today, and the group just happened to include his son Koby.

Koby hit a lead-off, first-pitch homer off of dear ol' dad, so what does Roger do. The next time he faced his son, he "buzzed him high and tight with another fastball," to borrow the AP's description of the incident.

He throws chin music to his own kid? Unreal!

Re: Roger Clemens vs. Koby Clemens

Does that really surprise anyone?? Clemens is the ultimate competitor. I'm sure he would make his father hit the dirt if he hit a homer off of him.

Re: Roger Clemens vs. Koby Clemens

I'm wondering if his 1st pitch to his kid was a softy to get the kid some headlines. What level of the Astros' system is Koby Clemens in?

Re: Roger Clemens vs. Koby Clemens

He's 19 and was just drafted last summer, so I doubt he's too high up yet.

Thanks for the info, wedge!

Hmm... 4 home runs in 33 games? Yep, Pops lobbed him a softball alright.

Cool Re: Roger Clemens vs. Koby Clemens

Actually, as much as it would add to the Clemens mystique to think he would throw at his son's head, the report seem to indicate that the ball get away from him a bit...it also added that the one he hit was a pretty decent fastball...(though he might have grooved it for the kid, but I doubt it)....I think dear old dad is trying to get his kid ready for what he will see in the majors...and aside from having to face Randy Johnson, facing Roger Clemens (even at 43) will help him do that.

But heck, lets let go of reality here...sure why not...the guy would throw at his kid's head...an undisclosed source, who is a friend of a friend of the women who use to baby sit Kody said, and I quote, "Roger believes in tough love...he is a throw back to the days that getting a whumpin' from your dad was just a way to build character."...how's that?...lets roll with that angle shall we???...

conspiracy

Okay I got one for all the conspiracy theory fanatics out there. What if Roger Clemens did all this on purpose? He intentionally gave up a gopher ball to his son and then buzzed him just to get him on ESPN. Heck why not? Any thoughts?
