Apparently Luongo was shocked to be traded yesterday, too. But hear this - he had three stipulations in his contract that I guess panther management decided were unreasonable:
he wanted the team to make a public statement that they would not trade him; he wanted Florida to hire Francois Allaire as his goaltender coach; and he wanted the Panthers to sign Jamie mcLennan as his backup goalie.
Who does he think he is, Tom Cruise?
Luongo said he didn't think these points were a big deal. Why would someone insist on a certain backup goalie?
So now the canucks have his rights but they still need to get him to sign a contract.
