NHL awards tonight

so...I think we've done this before but let's revisit.
Calder:
Ovechkin, Crosby and Phaneuf. I'm going to go with Crosby.

Norris:
Lidstrom, Scott niedermayer or Sergei Zubov. I say Niedermayer.

Hart:
Thornton (Joe, that is - did you see Sharks aren't picking up cousin Scott's 1.5 million $ option?), Jagr and Kiprusoff. I'm going to say Kiprusoff.

Frank Selke:
Brind'amour, lehtinen and Fisher from Ottawa. I'll say Brind'amour.

Lester B pearson Award (most outstanding player) as voted on by players:
Jagr, Thornton and Ovechkin. Hm...jagr.

vezina:
brodeur, Lundqvist (first rookie ever to be nominated) and Kiprusoff. I'm going with kiprusoff again.

lady Byng:
Pavel Datsyuk, Patrick marleau, and Brad richards. This one is tough. I'll say Marleau.

Jack Adams:
Laviolette, Lindy Ruff and Rangers coach Tom renney. I'll go emotional and say Ruff.

You forgot Bobby Orr...just the memory of Orr is enough to take another Norris Trophy...

Hi Goth Guy (sssh I'm cross posting)

I was watching the Cup get passed around after Carolina won and noticed all the players had beards. Was this some sort of good luck charm or something? And some of those guys were using their tounge on that thang too

Cross Posting great!...so much more fun than cross dressing...but what would I know...

Its called a "playoff beard"...they keep it for the length of the playoff...superstitious lot that they are...the tongue thing is a bit much though...but you could have started your own hockey thread you know...give it a try...it don't even have to be good...I got your back...we can make it work...bonus points if you work the words...Columbus Blue Jackets into it...

Re: NHL awards tonight

so I think I got 4 out of 8. And it's so amusing that they broadcast the awards, seeing as how there is nothing more uncomfortable than watching a hockey player wear a suit and tie and talk into a mike.
Poor guy carbonneau (although: hottie!), and Luc robitaille was tongue tied.
Still, they all look fairly decent in their suits.
Happy to see ruff take it.

And re the playoff beards - it was getting so i couldn't tell half the Oilers apart - with big bushy brown beards, they were all starting to look alike.

Re: NHL awards tonight

congrats pundit, you called em. They totally went for Ovechkin.

And thanks for the pic, GDK. carbonneau was one of those players who I never really thought looked so good when he played (I was too busy trying to catch lafleur's eye, maybe)- and then he matured.
Opposite of Danny gare. he was such a cutie and I don't even recognize him anymore.
Then there's Bobby Orr. the man doesn't age. just his knees do.

Re: NHL awards tonight

Now, now... no need to hijack another thread to talk PBR!
A new PBR thread can be found here: http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/other...html#post29886

Now, back to the NHL awards discussion. I guess Jagr not winning MVP wasn't a surprise, but I have to admit, two or three months ago, I'd have thought he was a shoe-in. Ovechkin over Crosby was the right call, too, though both will have great NHL careers.
