Hart nominees

for the NHL's most valuable player:
Malkin, Iginla and Ovechkin.
That's a very tough one to call. This is Iginla,'s 3rd time up for the Hart- he had 50 goals and 48 assists to rank third in the NHL in both categories. His 98 points were a career best. Malkin and Ovechkin both are first-time Hart finalists.
Ovechkin won the scoring title with 112 points - also led the league with 65 goals. Malkin was right behind Ovechkin with 106 points.
Yeah Ovechkin chalked up the numbers and seems an easy slide in but malkin has become the top penguin player (albeit in the playoffs which don't matter to these awards cause voting is already done) and Iginla is the heart and soul of the Flames.

Re: Hart nominees

While I'd love to see Malkin win the honor... wow, it's hard to make a case against Ovechkin or Iginla.
Personally speaking, I can't see having an issue with whoever the league chooses. They're all worthy candidates.

If I were to place a wager on this, I think they'd go with Ovechkin. How about you?

Re: Hart nominees

I'm not sure - my heart says, Iginla.
What i think is, would the team be the team they are if they didn't have this player? And yeah, Ovechkin brought the Caps to where they are. but so did Iginla with the Flames. ovechkin is just more Star than iginla, headline grabber, Mister Spotlight.
Iginla does it quieter.

Re: Hart nominees

I'd have to go with Malkin. He helped keep the Pens going in Crosbys absence, and to me is the best player on that team.

But I would be cool with any of em, they are all great players, and good examples for the NHL to have as MVP!
