i agree with this, if its not a penalty in game one it cant be a penalty in game four.

would you be laughing in your seat like i was if it was Clarkson? Sure it was childish, but the entire thing i like about Avery is how much he pisses marty off. Since the first game Avery played in a rangers uni against the devils wen he shoved him on his rear, the rangers have had an edge over the devils. Its also not hard to believe the rangers benefit from his rule book interpretations, look at the record when the rangers don't have him in the lineup compared to wen he is in the lineup. He is like Barnaby you love the guy when he is on your team and you'd go against all conventional thought just to argue against the guy when he is not on your team cause he pisses you off that much. Could you imagine in Nascar if the teams didn't push the line on loop holes? its part of sports still shouldn't have made a rule change in the middle of the playoffs.

Re: NHL amends unsportsmanlike conduct rule in response to Avery's antics

I disagree - i totally understand why Tucker is only loved by leaf fans or Tootoo is only adored in nashville - they hit, they play hard and sometimes they try to get away with something and don't always get caught. Even Stevens when he played for the Devils - i Hated him but would i have wanted him on my team? yeah.
I would hate to have an avery on my team. I think he's a dirt smudge on hockey.
Give me a hard hitter, a bully, a fighter - whatever - but don't give me a loser who doesn't know where to draw the line.
You can keep Simon too.

so you'd rather have Stevens who got famous off head hunting? i just think you people are blowing this way out of proportion. But come on if u wanna talk about disgraces of hockey lets talk about a team like the devils inventing the god damn neutral zone trap, and now i have to watch the rangers run a varation of it. The trap was/is the worst thing for the nhl not a guy face guarding a goalie, and Blue, out of curiosity, what has avery done that is so dirty to compare him to Simon dont you think thats a little strong?

Re: NHL amends unsportsmanlike conduct rule in response to Avery's antics

I know what you mean about blowing it out of proportion, how it can sound like that. And Stevens was a dirty guy - I hated what he did to lindros. Yeah, i think he needed to get more calls.
But what Avery stands for is more than a crappy act once in front of brodeur. He is a bad name for hockey, again and again. I don't have respect for a guy whose career destination is to Be A Bug.
I know he gets goals, and that side of him, yeah, sure, rock on. But if he really thinks in his brain that it is worth it to stand in front of Brodeur like that rather than think, hey if i faced outward, i could block him AND possibly get a goal, then I just think he's stupid. I think he doesn't use his brain. That's why i compare him to Simon. he's not bright either.
It doesn't seem like it's blowing it all out of proportion to me when you are taking about taking a step somewhere that makes hockey not such a great sport anymore. Avery in general takes away from what i think is the integrity of the game. the other night just made me see how far he'll go.

there is that famous phrase -
something like,
men forget but never forgive and women forgive but never forget.
I guess the nhl never forgives.
