Honestly, I forgot it was on. But I'll tune into tonight's game. DiPietro is starting because Brodeur chose not to come to the game to take care of personal stuff. He probably had to pick up his dry cleaning and get to the supermarket.

Re: NHL Skills Competion tonight! I have to admit, I didn't watch it - family dinner - but I usually don't watch this game. Here I was making fun of Brodeur etc for not showing up because they certainly didn't want to injure anything at a mean-nothing game - and I don't watch it because it's a mean-nothing game. I love watching defensive hockey - I love hard hitting defense and amazing goaltending - that's the kind of game I really enjoy cores like 1-0 or 2-1 - so the all star game, with a final score of 8-7 for the east and 51 shots on net for the west team vs. 33 shots for the east - that's just not my kind of game. i bet Nash's hat trick was lovely, and Staal as the star - but they say brian Campbell was out there for the most time - 23:19 minutes - what was this all star defenseman doing - making sure he didn't get in the way of the puck? Best tally of the night? Number of hits: 2.

Re: NHL Skills Competion tonight! It was a bit of a different game. When it was tied with 5 minutes to go, they were actually starting to make contact. It didn't show up in the stats, but I actually enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd period more than any other in a long time. The East blew that 5-1 lead, and were behind in the 3rd! It isn't "real" hockey, but it was fun to see some of the goals! The real season roars back to life tomorrow, and I'm ready for it! Flyers host the LA Kings, 7pm EST!!!!! WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It was on Versus - Channel 408 in my cable system. It's a joke that the game wasn't on a main network. Despite the fact that there was no checking and no penalties called, it wasn't a horrible game. DiPietro played well. He only gave up 1 goal and that was because he was miked up and he was talking to Mike Emrick. The puck got turned over and all of a sudden, Rick Nash was on top of him with the puck. Boom. It was actually funny. Emrick apologized to DP and DP said: "Don't worry about it." Even Brian Englom congratulated Emrick for being the first broadcaster to ever get an assist in an NHL game. The East blew DP's win. They were up 5-1 when he left the ice. Oh well.
