MSG network replayed the last 10 minutes of the 1976 Rangers opening game vs. the Minnesota North Stars. It was hysterical watching it.

The Rangers wore those uniforms with their regular logo:


And almost every single Ranger didn’t wear a helmet. Ron Greschner, Don Murdoch, Pat Hickey, Dave Maloney etc….And they all had typical 70’s very long hair. They looked more like rock stars on skates then hockey players.

Also, the glass on the boards was only high behind the goals…The glass from center ice to the end zones were half the height.

The goalies wore those flat masks:

Yeah, their hair was too important to cover with an ugly old helmet. Lafleur would not have been lafleur without the long flowing locks.
i remember greschner and Hickey especially.
By the way, those shirts rock.
