The National Hockey League has launched the NHL Network in the U.S., making the 24-hour hockey channel available to 75 million households. The NHL Network, which debuted in Canada in 2001, broadcasts 50 live regular-season games as well as highlights, classic games, instructional programs and off-ice documentaries. In the U.S., the network will initially be available as a subscription-based premium channel through Cablevision Systems Corp., Comcast Corp., Cox Communications Inc., the DirecTV Group Inc., EchoStar Communications Corp.'s Dish Network and Time Warner Cable Inc., NHL Network Vice President Jody Shapiro said.
