Re: Commissioner for a Day - NHL ok this is fun. I think I'd look at the viability of a 30 team league. Look at attendance, $$$. The league gets watered down by so many teams and some places ie Nashville do not suppoort an NHL team. Pittsburgh's hurting too. Step up (get a new stadium!) or get out. I'd also want teams to play out of their division more. I'd want all team's to play each other at least once. I know NOTHING about some teams as a tv viewer. San Jose who? Detroit who? Those are supreme. One fun thing I've always wanted to do is, Make the goalie fair game. if he skates out of his net and gets hit out of that area, no call. He wants to leave the net, he takes his chances. No more Goalie is off limits. Those guys are fierce - time to take some of that back.

Re: Commissioner for a Day - NHL Okay, here we go. 1) All southern franchsies would be relocated to Europe...we would have the Helsinki Predators, the Gottenberg Thrashers, the Munich Sharks, the Moscow Ligthnings and so on...I mean its freakin hockey! 2) -to be continued after lunch

2) I would send the Rangers to play in Alaska and set up an outdoor stadium. 3) I would annul the Rangers 1994 cup and give it to Edmonton since there were about 8 Oilers on that Cup team. 4) I would annul the Rick DiPietro draft pick and give the Isles Dany Heatly, lwho they should have taken in the first place. 5) I would annul the Roberto Luongo and Oli Jokinenn for Mark Parrish and Oleg Kvasha deal. That's what I would in my first morning. I'll think about what I'd do in the afternoon and let you know.

Re: Commissioner for a Day - NHL Ha ha! Some great ones here. I love the idea of each team playing every other team at least once. Heck, why not just borrow a page from baseball and make them all 3 or 4 game series... that way, if there's a cheap shot or something, you don't need to wait more than 24 hours for retaliation! I'd be against contraction, though... it'd eat up my Pens, and that's no good. Profit sharing... now that's the way to go! (as in, OK all you other teams, you're sharing your profits with Pittsburgh...) Instead of just stripping the Stars of the cup for that Hull thing, why don't we just call a mulligan, get all of those guys on both teams together again and have them play one more, winner-take-all game. That could be fun...

okay, I am back: 2) I would keep the Cup in Canada where it belongs...any team south of Canada would get a Replica to carry around... 3) Okay, I would install territorial rights to players...like if you go to school in the Boston area...the Bruins have first dib on you...force hockey to give back to the community they are from so that they can raise a crop of home grown player... 4) Oh...the "Indentured Servant Rule"...where half of your team at all times has to have been on the same club they came in with... No more of this team hoping for money stuff... 5) Hockey would retired the number 4 from all clubs under the Bobby Orr Appreciation Clause... 6) Remove that wimpy plexi-glass from the side wallls...if the puck kills a fan it will just add color to the game... 7) Oh, and the Original Six teams have a playoff bye each year...A kinda Legacy Clause...

Re: Commissioner for a Day - NHL I like the 3-4 game series idea. I love when they do the home and home thing. I think I'd roll back the old playoff tradition of 5 game series' in the first couple rounds. It's a bit ridiculous that these guys are playing the final games when the rest of us are going to beach (in Canada I mean - I guess you Florida people are going to the beach already anyway). How about a fan approval vote before any new franchises are created. If we all disagree that Las Vegas is no place for a hockey team then, sorry guys, no dice.
