| Re: ever seen 'The Rocket'? Wow very quickly dismissive of you, Gotham. part of what makes him great is in what he achieved. he was beaten black and blue most games and refs never called it. Do you know they banned French from the bench? And he could barely speak english. but he was a great one. They say he won the scoring champ each year but the English guys in charge worked it out by padding the english speaking players stats. I would always put Maurice up in the to 5 best players ever. It's easy to forget the guys from way back when. It's impossible to compare a player from the 50s o now - the game is so different. By the way, Lecavalier was in it, he played Beliveau, Ricci was a Hab and Avery was Dill the goon on the Rangers. It wouldn't have hit your theatres because it's a Canadian movie and wouldn't have been wanting to compete with the Hollywood crappy blockbusters. |

Adversity aside...there are a players I would take over him...Orr aside...Someone like Bobby Hull could skate faster and shoot harder etc...and I am not a Habs fan...so take that into account. |

| Re: ever seen 'The Rocket'? Okay, I won't keep you- the english vs french thing is something we've had as a constant cultural divider up here. If you aren't canadian, it might not seem so strong, what richard did - he gave the French canadians something to make them feel special. he broke down barriers. and he was fricking tough. I'd take him over Hull any day. You don't like the habs? hm. i never knew. |
