Does anyone know why NHL teams started wearing their dark jerseys at home a few years ago? Personally, I don't like it. I like Isles White at home and blue on the road .

Hey there. With the new NHL season looming over the horizon, I would like to ask a question that I've been pondering for the past couple of years: Why was it changed so that the home team wears their away jersey and the away team wears their home jersey? Personally, I liked it better the old way, seeing the Flyers with their white uniforms at home ice. Now, they have to wear the black ones, and it just doesn't seem like the same old game I knew. Any answers?

Hey Brian. This is a case of what's old is new again. It used to be that the road team wore its white uniforms and the home team pulled on the more colorful jerseys. The switch was made to home team wearing white during the 1960s and it remained that way until the switch was made for 2003-04.
The switch was made as means of giving the home fans the chance to see their team in their more colorful uniforms. I'll admit that the change does take some getting used to. I'm also used to seeing the white uniforms at home.

So add to that the third jerseys sported by most teams - for example, the original of the original six, and the horrible Boston Bruin bear. There are too many sweaters out there - would love if the original six just stayed with their original designs.

I bought a Yushkevich sweater back a few years and figured out i liked the away best - the wonderful leafs blue. I don't get the whole, make em wear away shirts at home so more fans can enjoy them. I watch all the games, I see all the shirts.
I definitely like colour, though, of any team - when i went to a game at the old Gardens, there was nothing prettier than the red of the visiting red wings. It was breath taking.

I really like the home White with the orange and blue trim. Classic. I don't like the blue at home.

That guy in the example you furnished said it very well: "It just doesn't seem like the old game I knew."

Remember too, that I saw the Isles win 4 cups in their home white.

They have also gone to a more modern Navy Blue instead of their old lighter blue. I can live with that change, but please bring back the white at home.
