| Re: I was wondering? OH its a long rule book heres a little to add to the OT thing. Each period in the game is 20 minutes and intermission is 15 minutes. There are 3 periods. If the score is still tied after these 3 periods the two teams go in overtime. After 60 seconds of intermission OT begins. In the regular season they go into a 4 on 4 OT sudden death sitiuation which is 5 minutes long. If niether team has scored they go to a shoot-out that is best of 3 if the score in the shoot-out is still tied they go in too a suden death shoot-out which goes round by round untill somebody has the lead after that round. After any OT game in the regular season the losers are awarded 1 point and the winning team is awarded 2 points. In OT its all switched up a bit. If 2 teams are forced in too OT its just normal 20 minute 5 on 5 periods. Which is also conntinuis OT untill somebody scores. Thats Overtime in the NHL in a nut shell
