The league, says Colin campbell, is ready to talk about maybe taking fighting out - although people'll put up a fight about it.
Roenick says the game'll lose fans.
Difference is, these are fights, not bad hits they are talking about, and guys are getting carried away on stretchers because of it. There have been only 9 suspensions this year due to fighting (the article in The Star includes the janssen hit on Kaberle but in my opinion, that was a late hit not a fight).
I think fights are really silly. the shirt pulling over the head, the pads every which way, the red faces, the exhaustion, the stick tamping by the players on the bench. if you ever look at the players they all look bored - I'm not saying they are, but they look it.

Ah come on...the belak fight was good...

Problem is, that players are super sized now...they land a punch and its got a little more force than in years past...

Fighting shouldn't be a part of any sport (execpt for well, boxing, wrestling, and all the wonderful derivations of the martial arts)...

Does the NHL really need the fans that are there for the fights not the game?...well, okay, maybe it needs all the fans it can find...but come on...
