Cool Best 2-way hockey player ever.

Okay. I'm biased but I say the best 2 way player in the history of hockey was: Bryan Trottier.

He was not only a great offensive player but was the Islanders top defensive center in their Stanley Cup Run. In shorthanded situations, he was almost always sent in to shadow the opponent's top offensive player.

Because his offensive numbers were just "outstanding", instead of Brett Hull like, he was almost underrated.

Anybody else have a player they think was better 2 way than Trottier?

BOBBY ORR! He changed the face of hockey.Only defenseman to lead the league in scoring. Voted the second greatest player in the NHL ever, behing only Gretzky, by an expert committee in 1997. All this despite 12 knee surgeries.

ORR Hands Down!...In my book he was better than the Great one...the man was on the ice a good 40 minutes a game and could control the whole tempo of the game...Only got to see him play near the end when he had one knee left...and he was still amazing...I am with you Legend my man....my vote is for the great Bobby Orr...

I would certainly have to agree with this sentiment. Orr was one of the best.

Although I can't make the case for best of all time, I would argue that Jere Lehtinen is the one of the most underrated two-way players of the last decade.

I think yuo can make the case for him being the best two way player in the NHL out of Espoo, Finland ...the man is having the quietest 28 goal season out there...now if you only had a Dallas Star forum from where to shout his virtues...

Okay, point taken on Orr. What about the best 2 way forward in the games history? Anybody better than Trottier?
