an article in the TO star had some yummy stats:
52% of players in the NHL are canadian. Canadians claim 26 of 42 available spots at allstar game, and 16 of top 30 scoring positions.
Russians account for 4% of NHL skaters, and 14% of the top scorers.
Americans make up 19% of the NHL skaters (that's 150). 4 of those 150 skaters have made the top 50 scorers.
There are 17 canadians and 2 Americans on the Ducks. There are 14 Americans playing on the Devils (wow).
Sabres have 9 Canadians and 4 Americans.
One thing I didn't realize, or have probably forgotten - Miller is American.
All-star game is on Wednesday night.
new shirts make their debut too. they don't look too bad, and apparently players can make NO ADJUSTMENTS. or Adidas will have to kill them.

Only 4% Russians huh?...seems low...what about the Swedes?

in 2005 there were 47 Swedes playing in the NHL.

What do we take from this? That Americans are more defensive minded?
