As someone outside of Toronto, I can say: we hate Domi. If you play a physical game and dish out cheap hit, you need to drop the gloves, or else you're viewed as a hypocrite, a dirty player. I remember seeing a game in Philly when Domi actually hid behind one of his teammates to avoid fighting. That's why so many people despise players like Domi and Kasparaitis. They help their teams by drawing penalties, but it still comes across as cheap and spineless. You really can only like those guys when they're on your team.

I honestly can't remember Domi ever backing off from a fight - I think now he's just feeling the years, so he's just playing (mediocre) hockey. I'm sure he's not too popular in Philly. The game where he threw water at the annoying fan? I couldn't help but love that.
No, what bugged me about him was TOO MANY fights. He'd be so intent on fighting, the puck'd skate right by him. So when he could have been doing something productive, he was actually just a liability.

Yes but a "fun to watch liabilty"...adds color to the game...some say "Thug"...some say "Colorful"...but you can't say dull.
