US Men's Hockey Medal Chances

They aren't very good, I'll tell you that much. The only team we've beaten was Kazakhstan, and tying 0-3-1 Latvia wasn't exactly a shining moment in American hockey history.

The top four in Group B will advance to the quarterfinals, so its a good thing that there are a pair of winless squads in the six-team division or else we'd be in serious trouble. Why is this team struggling so much? They're getting shots on goal, but the just aren't connecting!

I heard that the Swiss team is made up almost entirely of their national hockey team-so these guys play together all the time. That's got to be a benefit coming into the Olympics. the Canadians yesterday were not a cohesive team, and we even have lacavalier, Richards and St. louis on a line-they're still figuring it out.
Do you think it's nerves at all for the Americans?

I guess nerves could be a factor. The only game I got to see was against Kazakhstan, and we looked pretty good in that one. I didn't see any glaring weaknesses or anything like that. So its hard for me to break it down critically, you know?

If the Swiss find a measure of success using a national team, you think there's any chance that other countries (U.S., Canada) might wind up doing so again too? I'd love to see the Olympics roll back the clock a bit and stop relying so much on professionals.
