...until the game began. 49 shots to 18, that's how many Swiss goalie Gerber fought off. Now granted, this isn't sour grapes talking, but two Canadian goals were waved off. The first one, a whistle was blown for no apparent reason just as the puck slid across the line. Second one, Gerber caught in his glove and his glove is in the net, yet judges decided, we can't tell - and the momentum we had started to gather was blown.
The Swiss played that annoying defensive hockey once they got ahead by two, the old Devils style that I can't stand, but who can blame them? This win is huge for them, and how can you really hate the Swiss?
Thank God the game ended if only to relieve us of hearing again "Gerber stops the puck..."
Onto the next game.

I've been working an event all weekend, so I haven't been near a TV or radio or computer much, but I heard briefly about this game yesterday, and I really wish I'd gotten to see it.

I've also got Gerber on my fantasy hockey team, and oh how I wish I could get credit for this game!

There's an outside chance the Swiss will wind up medaling this year, isn't there? I mean, they HAVE already beaten the Czechs and Canadians.

there's a definite chace for the Swiss, Slovakia as well. should be a good game toward for Canada versus the Fins. Important game.
I'm usually up in arms about coverage never being focussed enough on Canadians- but this time around, all our tv up here was so focussed on Canada losing, i didn't hear any of the other stuff (Jagr got hit AND bled!)

Looked like a nasty hit, too. Dirty hit, perhaps. Trainers are saying he didn't suffer a concussion, which I'm sure is good news for Rangers fans. But for the Czechs, it's being reported that Hasek is done for the Olympics. He hasn't been playing anyway, though, right?

hasek played the first game, injured himself that game. Has been gone since.
I feel horrible for him, because he looked so disappointed he couldn't play for his country (now it's Vokoun in net). I I can't be happy for someone else's disappoinment.
But (and I should whisper this) the Senators are our most powerful foe and now they may be in trouble.
