Dale Earnhardt Jr. hit rock bottom during his last trip to Lowe's Motor Speedway. He struggled with his car, feuded with his crew chief and finished a season-low 40th in one of the most embarrassing weekends of his career.

Team owner Rick Hendrick fired crew chief Tony Eury Jr. three days after that May debacle, and things were supposed to turn around with some fresh leadership at Earnhardt's No. 88 team.

Suppose to turn around is the key part of that sentence. I was really hoping it would, but there really hasn't been any improvement. Heck there really hasn't been much improvement since he went to HMS. But there's always next year. But it sure is getting old saying that.

There are some more than obvious problems with Jr. HMS does care if Jr wins. There is no doubt in my mind they are not using him as an R&D driver. When Hendricks signed him I believe he knew the trash & treasures sales would be out of sight. I now believe that his value in that department has decreased significantly. One has to begin to wonder just how long HMS will want to fund a non winning driver. Food for thought.

Problem is, Junior is still leading everybody else in sales. He went back to #1 recently at the NASCAR.com superstore. So as long as the money's coming in, Rick won't do anything...

I'm kind of surprised at that but I guess you can get a fool and his money to part !!!!

Can you blame him? The man aint stupid... 3 of his 4 drivers are fighting for the trophy.. one goin for his first, another for his fifth, and the last goin for 4 in a row. Let the Money horse bring in the cash to make up for his lack of performance on the track
