According to the
Minneapolis Star Tribute (via

Brett Favre could be a Minnesota Viking by the end of the week.
FanHouse and PFT blogger MDS
told you last night that the NFL reinstated Favre and that it has been said that he can compete for the Packers starting job. Of course, this is a 180 from what the team has been saying since this whole thing began.
Then again, dealing him to the Vikings is a 180 from what they've been saying, too.
The team has been saying that Aaron Rodgers in their starter and that reinserting Favre in would make all this prep work and offensive adjustments a giant waste of time. It also could cause Rodgers to demand out of Green Bay.
An executive in personnel for an NFL team with close ties to clubs in the NFC North Division told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the Packers called the Vikings on Friday informing them that Favre was available.
"They've kind of said through one of their (front-office) guys that if Favre did report they would potentially trade him within the division," the executive said late Sunday afternoon.
The source said the conversation between officials from the two bitter rivals was brief. There was no discussion about possible compensation.
