Grant, Packers dont appear close on new deal

With all the hoopla and drama surrounding the Packers with the Favre retire- unretire thing, not much focus has been put on another really important issue. Ryan Grant does not have a contract in place and skipped the first day of the Packers training camp Monday.
Grant is an exclusive rights FA who wants a long term deal. The talks appear to have broken down. His agent, Alan Herman, said the offer of a 6 year deal with 1.75 in guaranteed money is insulting.
GM Ted Thompson, when asked about the issue said, "It is sort of, the cake is cooked when its cooked."

Grant needs to be there. But do you think the deal is all that insulting?

Well, it is a raise from what he's making now, but it's not in league with other starting RBs.
So it all depends how you look at it. Me? I see a guy in Ryan Grant who's had one good season. He deserves more, but not elite tailback money.

Re: Grant, Packers dont appear close on new deal

A good guy to have on your fantasy football roster...my running backs are Stephen Jackson and Ryan Grant. Hey if Yahoo has a competition for the all holdout team i'm gonna finish in first place! Thank you Yahoo for not letting me choose my own players. Surprised they didn't pick Daunte Culpepper with my 1st round pick!
