| Pro Favre Rally at Lambeau There was a rally outside Lambeau today that attracted about 200 fans urging the Packers to welcome Brett Favre back as the team's starting quarterback. The rally was organized by two brothers, Adam and Eric Rolfson, who started a website BringBackBrettFavre.com to put pressure on the team. An unscientific poll at Milwaukee Journal Sentinel website shows fans are evenly split between those who want him to return and those who want him to retire. | Re: Pro Favre Rally at Lambeau Green Bay itself is about 100K people but the entire Green Bay metro area is close to 250K. 200 people out of that many is just peanuts. The line to the ladies rest room at most MLB games is that long !!! |

As for behavior from sports stars...we can and we do...that's why there are so many multi-million dollar contract...fans forget once the season starts and keep paying for the game...

| Re: Pro Favre Rally at Lambeau I'm not really a lot older. I did manage to retire relatively young. Now .... the stat is pretty tough to find as far as average retirement age of the NFL player but the number I ran across most was 35. Brett will be 39 this fall. Yes there are exceptions to the case but if he thought he was ready to retire at the end of this past season, why is he all of a sudden a first stringer again (in his mind) ..... ?? |

I just don't get the soap opera...if he thinks he can play or doesn't think he can...big deal...he will have to prove it on the field...if not to the Packers...then trade him...get something of value for him. Say thanks Brett for the memories and ship him to Dallas...where he is yet to win a game...lol... |

| Re: Pro Favre Rally at Lambeau Brett Favre is a quarterback version of Jerry Glanville (remember him?). He'll do anything for attention. When he's 55 years old and can no longer play I think he'll be a head coach but to get more photographers and interviews will dress up in a Superman costume on the sidelines. Since he's from New Orleans maybe the city of Green Bay (minus the Woodstock crowd-like 200 fans who showed up to show Farvey support) could hire a voodoo priestess to put a curse on him so he'll never come back to the city of Green Bay again! |

According to Gannett Newspapers: On Saturday, July 12, Thompson confirmed reports that Favre contacted the team less than a month after his tearful March 6 retirement speech and said he was interested in returning. The Packers arranged to send a contingent to visit favre at his Mississippi home, only to have Favre back out days later after a conversation with his wife. on June 20, Favre called McCarthy with the message: "Give me my helmet or give me my release" But McCArthy said Favre remained unsure he could commit 100% to football. Only on Tuesday, July 8 did Favre say he was committed to playing. McCarthy says that was the first time he ever heard him say he was committed to playing. And that he (Favre) continually told offensive line coach James Campen that he was not going to play. Keep in mind that there has not been any word directly from Favre to the public. We hear what his agent says, what McCarthy says, what Thompson says. Tonight the Green Bay news on tv reports that the younger players want Rodgers under center. I think that the team is in danger of being split up in the locker room. Gannet Newspaper columnist Mike Vandermause says Favre should come back and compete for the starting job with Aaron Rodgers. Sounds like a plan to me. |
