Seriously, though, Goth, it's not like it's just us. Go check out any Packers message board or forum. You'll find at best a 50-50 split for and against Favre. Did you ever imagine that would be the case with Brett Favre? I sure didn't. Why, I was just over at one board reading through the comments. They called him a crybaby, a horrible teammate, selfish, washed up. A couple of folks came solidly to his defense, and a few admitted they were sick of him but they still would give him a shot to start, in spite of it. Some blamed Thompson and the coach for mishandling things, unfairly blaming Favre for the playoff loss, etc. But a whole lot of people were sick to death of him, all but begging him to stay retired. So it's hardly an isolate sentiment.

I agree.... Besides he said he was comfortable in his wrangler jeans. So why don't he just keep them on!!!

You know what? I've seen the light! Yeah, let him do whatever he wants! Screw the 50-plus other guys on the team! It's not like they matter, right?

Dude...what does it matter to you?...are you part of the team?...are you a fan of the team?...own stock in the team?...the other 50 guys can put up with it or not...management the same...you, you are not a fan...maybe of the NFL...but you have no stake in the game...what's it to you then?...what do you care how Favre choses to go out?...heck, the more he drags it out and the more people that care, the more your chances go up of writing a book on it...vanilla ending do not sell sports books right???

And by the way, the other 50 guys on the Packers, should only care about one thing...and that is, "will he help us win, or will he not"...if he can, welcome him...if not, release him or trade him...why join the soap opera???...they are just as bad, the media no better...and anyone whinnying about it is Favre's equal...did I miss anyone?

Hey, I object. I can whine with the best of them. Including Brett Favre and you.
I dont have a stake in the team but right now I am kind of wondering about you. Whats your stake in the deal?

Vanilla ending ???? I'm not so sure his was a vanilla ending (if in fact it was the end) His was a proud end to a proud career.Fan or not I suspect most people were happy for him in his decision. Just as Tony Romo's focus was distracted by Ms. Jessica, so will the 50 other players of whom you speak if Brett continues to waffle in his choice of playing or retiring. I just cannot believe that the team wants to be thinking about this soap opera , grocery store tabloid story.

Come on Brett ... belly up to the bar and make a final choice and put this saga to an end.

oh brother...LSC...come on man..."vanilla as in simple" compare to a messier ending...I know you can follow along bro...

and "yes" the team does not need to be thinking about any thing but winning, but if they want to, why not?...its their season...

...and no one can prove Ms. Simpson improved or took away from Romo's game at all...can you???...we can speculate from now to doomsday...and maybe the rest of us would have different taste...but how is Romo any different from say Joe Namath, Ken Stabler, Terry Bradshaw or even your favorite son Tom Brady when it comes to soap opera romances during a football season???

As for Favre, he can change his mind 25 more times along the way, its his to change...no one has to like it...no one has to hire him, but he can finish it out any way to his liking...more power to him for it.

My stake?...I just like to point out we are all a bunch of hypocrites really...we all love to whine...but we all take exception to another persons whinnying...why cast stones at Favre when no one here is any better?

Wow! Thats pretty heavy stuff for a sports forum. Thought we were talking about Brett Favre's flip flopping and how we felt about it. Not a major philosophy for life.

I think anyone who acts like he is older than 11 years old is a better person than Farvey. He's nothing more than the Paris Hilton of the NFL. An insincere disgrace to humanity who will do anything for attention. This man will be jumping in front of cameras at age 50 with his Packer uni on saying "Hi mom!" A liar and not cut of the same cloth as MEN like Elway, Marino, Montana, etc. But that's just my opinion.

She certainly didn't do anything positive to help him. It was his fans that made the claims that it was her fault that Tony's game was off the mark.

I am only trying to reach outside the box here and embrace a new way of thinking.

Not true at all my good man. I retired over 4 years ago and there is no way I'll return. NO WAY. I like this life style.

Yeah, we went from crybaby Favre to those bizarre discussions that the people have that try to convert you to scientology in the subway station. Lets not get carried away because Farvey is just gonna "retire" again at the end of next year anyway for more press coverage. "It's wasn't for the money...boo-hoo....I did it...sniff sniff..for the team!"

Because bellyaching on a sports forum doesn't hurt anyone else, let alone more than two dozen professional athletes trying to do their job.

I don't think I'm being a hypocrite. We're here to give our opinions on sports-related topics. That's all I'm doing. Heck, after all the crap we gave Roger Clemens about coming back, about Peter Forsberg, about Selanne and Neidermayer, we'd be hypocrites if we DIDN'T hold Brett Favre to the same standard when it comes to selfish behavior. See, you try to make this all about the whining, but in the end of the day, look at all the people Favre is hurting here with this. It's less about whining and crying and more about selfishness and ego. I for one am glad the franchise is sticking to their guns and rallying behind Aaron Rogers. But at the end of the day, I can sleep just fine regardless of what happens with Brett Favre.

Quote:
Dude...what does it matter to you?...
What does it matter to me? I'm a sports fan. My money helps support the salaries of athletes like Favre, Clemens, etc. This on-again, off-again retirement stuff is nonsense, playing half a season, and so on. I have a right to complain as long as my dollar helps support the NFL, player salary, etc.
