Titletown crown not up for debate

Green Bay, Wisconsin has for years been referred to as "Titletown, USA" No matter what anyone says, the name is right for the city.
On any Sunday from September to January (including Christmas and New Years) walk the streets of the town. Cars are lined up as far as the eye can see and the air is hazy from the smoke of brats cooking. You'll hear polka music, and the smell of brats and beer are everywhere.
Green Bay is the NFL's smallest town, at a little over 100,00 population.
First a look at a famous Packer icon not wearing a no. 4 jersey, Lambeau Field. Built in 1957, the frozen tundra has been sold out since 1960. Whether the Pack are winning or losing, Lambeau is sold out. No other fans embrace their team with as much affection as the Cheeseheads do.
The Packers were founded in 1919 by Curly Lambeau, and joined the NFL in 1920, making it the oldest continuous name in the NFL.The waiting list for season tickets is over 74,000 for a stadium that holds almost 73,000.This is a stadium noted for its fan friendliness, atmosphere, and competitiveness.
There isnt any owner walking the sidelines. The Packers are owned by over 110,000 people, making it the only publicly owned franchise in pro sports.
"Titletown" is about more than stocking trophies and all-time greats. Just walk the streets of Green Bay on a Sunday in October and see if you dont agree.

Crown Of Titletown Not Up For Debate | Bleacher Report

What do you think? Does all this make Green Bay eligible for the crown of "Titletown, USA"?

They have no more right to the crown than Boston, with the Celtics of old and the Patriots and Red Sox in recent years. Of course, not sure the Pats count... they aren't "officially" in Boston, now are they. Yeah, if you're looking at a purely football standpoint, Green Bay has a good argument, but with no other pro teams in the area, I'm not sure how they can really be "Titletown" you know?

No not a purely football standpoint. A sports standpoint. Look, there are cities like Chicago with the Bucks and Bears who have between them won more championships than the Packers. But when those teams are losing, check out the stands. Lambeau is filled no matter what the Packers do. Titletown is about the town, the fans, the atmosphere. When the Packers are actually playing, Green Bay is empty. This town is devoted to their team.
And name me a stadium that has a better reputation than Green Bay. Show me fans who are politer, and more respectful than theirs. Bears can wear his Bears hat and Bryann can wear his Viking jersey to a game at Lambeau and no one is going to throw beer bottles at them.

Those are wonderful stories, and it makes Green Bay a great sports town. But how does that make them Titletown???

So you dont agree Titletown is about more than stocking trophies and all time greats???

ha ha Think I am losing ground here.
Green Bay did win 12 championships, including some before the Super Bowl came into being.
Must be kind of like that "America's Team" thing with the Dallas Cowboys. If nothing else, it really irritates fans of other teams.

I don't think it can be, linguistically. The very name suggests "Hey, we're known for winning more titles than you."
I guess I'm nitpicking here, but I figure, if you call yourself Titletown I would think it's because you're a town filled with titles.

Packers with 12 championships
Brat capital of the nation
Probably beer capital of the nation
Cheesehead Town
Polka Town

Any of these titles help?

I wonder if any criminals know how empty the town is on Sundays. They could make a killing.
