I'm trying to think of a good, cohesive way to organize my thoughts, but it's early and I'm having trouble, so bear with me.

For one thing, teams have to realize the right move isn't necessarily the popular one. Was firing Tom Landry and trading Herschel Walker initially popular among Dallas Cowboy fans? I seriously doubt it. But look at what happened as a result, look at how much better that team wound up being as a result. Sometimes it takes guts to do the best thing for the team.

Now that said, we have to remember that I'm talking pre-2007 season, before Favre had a nice comeback of sorts. At the time, the team didn't look like it had much of a chance of accomplishing anything and he looked, well, old. But there was never any hesitation to go with him over Rodgers. Flash forward to this year, where the Packers are saying the right things, but... they drafted two quarterbacks and are looking to sign a veteran as well. To me that just screams that something's up with Rodgers, that the coaches don't have confidence in his abilities.

Hey, I calls 'em as I sees 'em. We'll all find out for sure this fall, right?

I still respectfully disagree. Packers arent the Cowboys. The board of directors arent Jerry Jones. Its a different animal. Green Bay is a small town. Cheeseheads are fanatic about their team.
And Brett Favre.

Re: Is a veteran quarterback needed?

Looks like the Packers are where the Vikings were a year ago. But their QB actually had some time to absorb the system. Best of luck to Rogers, but I think Tarvaris will be the top QB in the NFC North, at least he doesnt set ridiculous goals for our team (cough Kitna).
