| Packers optimistic GM Ted Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy are optimistic about the future of the Green Bay Packers after the rookies minicamp. Instead of signing a back-up qb and getting a retread CB off the scrap heap, they filled the positions with young skilled players they scouted and felt fit their system. WR Jordy Nelson, QB Brian Brohm, and CB Pat Lee add depth to 3 key positions and cheap depth at that. Wausau Daily Herald - AROUND THE BASES: Packers sounding optimistic This is the way to build a team for the future. Some of their defensive guys, like Woodson and Harrison, are getting up in age. The young guys will fill the gaps well I think.
