| Packer Ted Thompson named NFL Executive of the year In a poll by Sporting News Thompson received 19 votes from fellow GMs and other executives. Second place was Jerry Reese of NY Giants who received nine. Thompson is executive vice president, GM, and director of football operations of the Green Bay Packers. Sporting News cited his eye for talent and the blending of veterans and rookies. WBAY-TV Green Bay-Fox Cities-Northeast Wisconsin News: Thompson Named NFL's Executive of the Year Thompson also brought in Mike McCarthy. I say he has done a tremendous job.
