| Favre's move leaves fans feeling blue Now that Brett Favre has retired, I think we all need some painkillers. Let us take comfort in the memories of good days gone by. And remember, it could be worse: We could be Detroit Lions fans. When was the last time Wisconsin was this depressed? That Super Bowl loss to the Denver Broncos? Game seven of the 1982 World Series? The day the governor legalized colored oleo margarine? A week has passed since Black Tuesday, when the Green Bay Packers gunslinger rode off into the sunset. It was a day of statewide mourning. We screamed. We wept. We retired to our basements, poured stiff cocktails and sat in near darkness, watching highlight videos from the glory days. I'm sure our neighbors are enjoying our misery. No doubt fans of the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings laughed watching lumpy, dentally-challenged cheeseheads crying in their Leinie's on national television. (Wisconsinites are a good-hearted but largely untelegenic people.) After 16 of years of seeing no one but Favre start a game, could the Packers become like the Bears, who seem to start a different guy at quarterback every Sunday? "Hey, Morty, when you're done emptying the trash and scouring the john, how about taking a few snaps from center?" WiscNews.com : Baraboo News Republic This is one pain it will take cheeseheads a long time to get over. And if you think you are tired of hearing about it, you ought to live in Wisconsin.
