| Did Brett's tears tarnish his reputation? During Brett Favre's press conference when he talked about his retirement, he became very emotional and broke down into tears. There are those who are critizing him for this. We are talking about the "Ironman" here, guy with the most consecutive starts for an NFL quarterback. What's your opinion? Did Brett's tears affect your opinion of him? Did they tarnish his reputation??

| Re: Did Brett's tears tarnish his reputation? Of course not. It shows he loves the game of football, and it marked the end of a long, very important part of his life. He's not the first ex-jock to break down upon calling it a career and he won't be the last.

| Re: Did Brett's tears tarnish his reputation? I guess it was an hour long press conference. The Chicago radio station I listened to it on only played the first 15, or 20 minutes of it, so I didn't hear the whole thing. As I said, I like the guy, and I'm not saying that I wouldn't get choked up talking about people that I cared about, but he cried almost non stop thought the whole thing. As I'm working, installing carpet, I was yelling at the radio, "come on Brett, pull it together" |

| Re: Did Brett's tears tarnish his reputation? Why would anybody hold it against him that he showed passion for a game he loved. It wasn't just a 17 year career. He has played this game his whole life. It is probably about a 30 year career so far. That has to be hard to just give it up. I hope someday he can get back into the game as a coach or on TV. He is too much of a personality to leave the game entirely.

| Re: Did Brett's tears tarnish his reputation? Gee .... when I left my job after 31 years I didn't cry at all. I literally ran to my car !!! This situation may have been a bit different from mine. He is a highly respected athlete who loved what he did. It's never easy to leave when you think you could still play the game and play it as a winner. |

| Re: Did Brett's tears tarnish his reputation? As a woman on the forum, I found this interesting. The vote was 100% that Brett's tears didnt affect his reputation. Makes me wonder though, if any of you think that tears affect any man's reputation or if its just ok for jocks. Brett's tears were born from genuine emotion. So was TO's. I dont remember that TO has done this before. As for Vermeil, back off guys. If I remember right, he had a stroke. That is a common thing for stroke victims. |
