Packers weight experience, potential in QB free agents

The Packers need a No. 2 quarterback now with some starting experience but they could go for several types available on the market.
There is the mentor type verteran near the end of his career like Mark Brunell.
Younger less accomplished players with little starting experience like Tim Rattay may fill their need. Or perhaps someone with potential like Quinn Gray would do it.
Others include some busts like Joey Harrington or David Carr.

PackersNews.com - Search for critical backup to Rodgers begins

The best I can find out is that Craig Nall is still there. So maybe someone like Quinn Gray who needs a little time would work.
But then they already have Rodgers who also needs a little time.
What do you think?

They should Dante Culpepper, he is a very good number guy and if Rogers can't handle the lode they have Dante.

Why not? To me, he's the classic bust--failed with three different teams.

Put it this way then, Seahawker. Would you want him coming to the Seahawks??

Cool Re: Packers weight experience, potential in QB free agents

Personally, I would try and see if I could get Chris Simms. I thought he was playing well before he got hurt. I also might take a look at David Carr.

Simms is on the trading block in Tampa Bay...and Carr is a good stand up...Daunte has more upside though.

Yeah, either one of them seems like a good idea. Good move if they can get either guy. I don't think Rodgers is the answer.

Biggest problem with Rodgers as I see it is his tendency to get hurt.
The last I heard the Packers were pretty interested in Mark Brunell, as a mentor and backup. I believe they assume that Rogders is their guy.

Brunell? They might as well call Vinnie Testaverde back out of retirement. Mentor is all well and good, but you need someone who can step in and play if he absolutely has too. I don't think Brunell can.
