Staubach

i think its easy to name 5 QB's better then Favre
Ya know, this may be one of the things we comletely agree on. He has had some great seasons, and some seasons I wouldn't wish on anyone.

He was great, but great with flaws, for certain.

All six of the ones you have there above him, belong there to me without question.

Well, Peyton will, it may be a bit soon right now, three MVP's do speak volumes!

BUT, did he share the one??

Yes Manning shared an MVP with Steve McNair but Farve also shared an MVP with Barry Sanders.

I meant Farve! But thanks for clarifying both!

Re: Is Brett Favre An All-Time Great

I voted yes, but the name of this thread is "Is Brett Favre an all time great", so I voted yes, then after I read what everyone posted about the top 5 I went back and read the different question for the poll. So just to clarify, yes he is an all time great, no he is not in the top 5 quarterbacks of all time.

Re: Is Brett Favre An All-Time Great

No doubt.
And also a smart move to retire at the top of his game, unlike some others that hang on for too long and tarnish their legacy.
Some of the QB's mentioned in above posts, were one dimensional (pocket) QB's, and didn't bring the level of excitement to the game that BF did, not only did he bring continuous innovation to the game, but kept everyone surprised and amazed. A true "franchise player".
Watching the Pac play was fun.

Arguably the man is in the conversation of a top 5 pick...strangely though...where is Sammy Baugh and Johnny U etc?...the list given is one sided...there was football long before there was a Super Bowl.

And Favre never had the team Bradshaw had around him, or it would be no contest...

Heck, I didn't even notice the question was different till I read your post. I agree with you -- all time great, yes; top five, no.

No worry, Bette. Now Michael Strahan is going to take Favre's place with interminable retirement talk.

As far as these ratings go, I think when we start to put numerical requirements, the lists get skewed. We all have 2 eyes, don't we? You have to go by WHAT YOU SEE. Not how many trophys a guy owns.

If Marino, had Montana's team around him he'd have won the 4.

Based on what I SAW: Marino was the best ever. And I am a JETS fan.

Here's my top 7:

1. Marino
2. Elway
3. Montana
4. Bradshaw
5. Manning
6. Favre
7. Staubach
__________

THis is based on what I SAW. Not on any stats...It's this overreliance on stats that gets guys like Art Monk, and Craig Biggio into their respective HOF's when they don't belong there

Marino and Favre are one in the same...except one has a ring and one don't

I'd take Staubach over Bradshaw any day...Bradshaw won because of his D and elite receivers, not because of his passing...

and ya got to start making room for Manning and Brady now...

Yep, couldn't agree more. With Favre retired, no other active QB is even close to being in their league.

When you think about it, thats kind of pathetic.

However, there is one coming along who hasnt been playing too long but looks to be able to take Mr. Favre's place. He has a lot of the same manner of play.

are you serious ?

Romo is now 0-2 in the playoffs and he has a top 3 WR and a top 10 running game .... and you want to say he is the next Favre ???????

thats just crazy talk right there
