| Raiders irritate Packers with questionable hits The Green Bay Packers stopped short of calling the Oakland Raiders a dirty team, but a couple of plays from Sunday's game at Lambeau Field left them miffed, especially after watching them on film. Coach Mike McCarthy on Monday said one of the hits that defensive end Derrick Burgess put on quarterback Brett Favre was "unnecessary." Offensive coordinator Joe Philbin called the same play "questionable." Those comments came a day after Packers linebacker Nick Barnett used words like "dirty" and "garbage" to describe Raiders center Jeremy Newberry, whom Barnett said deliberately poked him in the eye. Favre escaped injury, but Barnett has a scratched cornea in his left eye and was to be examined by an eye specialist on Monday. Burgess hit Favre twice on Sunday. The first time came just as Favre released an incomplete pass on the play before the 2-minute warning in the second quarter. McCarthy said on that play, Burgess appeared to get pushed into Favre by one of the Packers' offensive linemen. The second one, however, bothered the Packers. It came on the first play from scrimmage of the third quarter, when Favre dumped off a short pass to running back Ryan Grant. "He went low on him," McCarthy said. "It was clearly evident. It was unnecessary." Philbin said the tape showed that Burgess hit Favre below his knee and from the side. PackersNews.com - Notebook: Raiders irritate Packers with 'questionable' hits on Favre
