| Ryan Grant:Packers next backfield hope So, to echo the question being asked all over America last night, who in the world is Ryan Grant? The short answer is that Grant, who rushed for 104 yards on Monday, could just be the Packers' next great backfield hope. An undrafted free agent pickup by the Giants in 2005, Grant spent all of the '05 season on the practice squad before missing all of 2006 with a broken hand. Grant, who likely would have been cut by New York when rosters were trimmed to 53 in early September, was instead dealt to rushing-starved Green Bay in exchange for a sixth-round draft choice. But when Wynn went out early with a shoulder injury against Denver, it was Grant who got the call. After his performance against the Broncos, however, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy gave Grant a starting vote of confidence, stating, "I think it's safe to say Ryan Grant will be the starter when we go to Kansas City (on Sunday." Grant had 22 carries for 104 yards, the Packers first 100 yard rush of the season. Just like old times for Favre and Pack - 10/30/2007 - MiamiHerald.com)
