Why risk the fumble, punch-out, and risk giving KC the ball back? A couple kneel downs on offense would have sealed it..... If this team wasn't so borderline, I say go for it, but they have to many weaknesses to risk something like this when the game was sealed with a interception, and offensive kneel-downs. |
If you are from Wisconsin then you have read Vandermause's column. For those who havent, the guys in the Packer locker room say this year is about attitude. When they need a play, someone steps up and makes one. When Woodson made the interception, it would have been easy to play it safe and call for a fair catch. Woodson would have none of that and said "If I got a shot, I'm going to take it. Just trying to make a play."
I understand where he is coming from, but like you, I dont think it was real smart. I still dont know why this team has the record it does. An aging quarterback who just couldnt figure out he wasnt 23 anymore, a bunch of young receivers who didnt know their routes, and a nonexistent running game. Part of it is Brett's arm, and he is playing smarter. His will could be carrying them too. Maybe McCarthy is a better coach than I give him credit for. Whatever it is, its working.
